25C-166 shed plan review 03-21-20113 Hometown Structures March 21, 2013 627 Southampton Road Westfield, MA 01085 Subject Location: 26 Orchard Street, Northampton MA Map Block: 25C-166 Mr. Martin, Your building permit application and plans dated 3-11-13 is in review Please follow up on the following items: The property owner must record an affidavit stating this space will not be used as a sleeping space. A sample is attached. Provide additional structural information indicating connections, bearing points, and engineering on the proposed LVL beams. The beam seems extreme and may create headroom issues, there is no evidence of a header over the door to support the proposed LVL or where the bearing falls. The roof structure is non typical that cannot be completed using prescriptive methods therefore requires engineering. The stair system must have rails, guards, closed risers, and maintain required head room. In general all non prescriptive materials and or systems require stamped engineering. As of August 4th 2011 the 8th Edition MA code is the 2009 IRC with MA amendments.
