The Retreat Center will occupy the first and second floors, and a new 600 square foot Yoga Studio on the first floor. New construction will include a single level 920 square foot apartment, a residence for the owner. The attic will be converted into an 803 square foot rental apartment. Construction of this unit will require raising the height of knee walls 3 to 4 feet. The drawing of the proposed project has parking for five automobiles. There is adequate space for an additional parking space. There will be a fence around the entire property, six feet in height on three sides, five feet at the front set back from the street. I appreciate your consideration on this project. Respectfully submitted, V)rn ►,,+ter+s 1, William J. Turomsha • Wm. J. TUROMSHA . 11 Williams Street • Northampton • Massachusetts 01060 Hello, My name is Kyle Waldron. I'm a native of the Pioneer Valley. My grandfather taught physics at Umass. My grandmother's writing on feminist activism is archived at Smith College. My mother Deborah Waldron started the first massage school in Massachusetts here. And like my seven-year- old daughter,I was born here. I am a small business owner who believes in ethical employment opportunities. My passions are any creative pursuits that require composition, and people. For the last 19 years I have been studying eastern yoga philosophy, and for the last ten years I have been studying masculinity and men's health. Initially these pursuits inspired healing from trauma and provided integrity in the development of ethics in relation to my own identity and how to be in the world (my mother was later diagnosed with M.S.and did not work, and I've not met my father). Organically I discovered that many people had a use for the information, tools and community that have served my wellness for over a decade. I am certified in many yogic practices, and a founding member of a men's retreat that supports collectively unpacking the masculine narrative with the intention of rebuilding accountability and breaking cycle of generational trauma. The use of the space we would like to create is intended as follows: a. This business is a retreat space where people will come for education and support around health and wellness,as well as mental and emotional wellbeing. b. This space is going to provide short(2-7 day)all inclusive workshops taught by professionals celebrated in their relative fields. Yoga, meditation, men's retreats (unpacking and healing the masculine narrative),sustainable gardening practices and writing workshops. c. The ground level of the commercial space will be used for group activity. This space will host the workshops and places for people to be together. Participants will have access to the ample green space in the back of the building for leisure and outdoor activity. The second floor of the commercial space will be dorm spaces for participants to keep their personal belongings, rest and bath as needed. d. There will be 2-10 participants per workshop. We hope to have at least one workshop per month in the first year. There will be a modest sign that will be located on the corner of Bridge St.and Coolidge Ave.well within the property line.2 1 ft wide 3 1/2 ft tall.Just the logo. Less for advertisement and more as design aesthetic or a signet. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our vision. Respectfully yours. yle J Waldron .t co • ' It-i .
