Dear Bruce:
This letter is to inform you that Craig Porter has completed
renovations to his home under my supervision, so that the
residence will now be in conformance with the Massachusetts
Building Code. The following work was performed to bring the
building into code conformance:
1. The roof truss structural system was rebuilt and strengthened
to allow for a 40-pound snow live load.
2. Additional attic insulation was added to bring the ceiling
/attic insulation up to code standards.
3. A ridge vent was added to bring the building up to code
standards.
4. New roof shingles were installed on the roof using a low
slope application to meet industry standards.
At this point, I feel that all the required corrective work has
been completed to bring the building into conformance with the
Massachusetts Building Code. Therefore, I would appreciate it
if you could issue a Certificate of Occupancy so that Craig
could legally occupy his home.

Pertaining to Craig Porter's building located at 15 Winslow Ave. , Northampton
building permit #415. I will issue a certificate of occupancy when the building
complies with the Mass. State Building Code as certified by a registered engineer
or architect.
The plumbing, gas, and electrical must also meet code for a single family
dwelling.

By this letter, I set forth our understanding with respect to
the building at 15 Winslow Avenue, Northampton.
Upon receipt by you of a letter certified by a licensed engineer
or architect that the structure complies with the state building
code, you will issue a Certificate of Occupancy.
We have received the report of our architect and will commence
work installing additional ceiling beams to shorten the longer
ceiling spans. We are also installing additional columns in the
cellar to further support the existing wood carrying beams.
The other necessary inspections may now be done as a matter of
course upon request.
Please indicate your confirmation of this understanding by
signing the enclosed copy of this letter and returning it in the
envelope provided. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation in
this matter.
