Northampton, MA. 01060 Re: Hampton Court - Access to Main Electric Room Dear Mr. Glenowicz : We are the Electrical Engineers for the aforementioned project . We have been advised by the Architect , David Yuan, that you are requesting that each occupant have access to their disconnecting means including access to the main electric service. We have reviewed the National Electric Code pertaining to this matter and are including the following for your consideration. Article 230-72 (c) Access to Occupants is as follows : "In a multiple occupancy building each occupant shall have access to the occupant ' s service disconnecting means . Exception: In a multiple occupancy building where electric service and maintenance are provided by the building management and where these are under continuous building management supervision, the service disconnecting means supplying more than one occupancy shall be permitted to be accessible to management personnel only . " Article 240-24 (b)also identifies this matter in a similar fashion. I have reviewed this with Roger Seward, the Owner ' s representative . I have been informed that in addition to the available personnel during normal working hours , there will be a telephone answering service available 24 hours daily , including weekends and holidays . This will be a manned service and not a recording. This will comply with the Code requirements for "continuous building management supervision" . /i We have been involved over the years in the design of hundreds of multiple occupancy buildings . We make ever attempt to comply with all Code requirements .
