Invoking the idea of craft and assembly as a literal part of the school,sheathing is intentionally removed to reveal specific elements of the building's inner construction.Exposed trusses and a stripped bearing stud wail at the entry are key in reflecting the spirit of making,while also increasing the height and openness of the space, In tandem with the raw elements of the building is an efficient,minimally finished cabinetry system and workbench serving the Art Room and Makerspace respectively.The colors and material palettes of these surfaces are light and neutral,allowing the products of the students to be showcased. The central"Toolbox"is exceptional to this neutral backdrop,clad in standard 4`xg'plywood panels and hung a on bare stud wall lined with acoustic insulation.Each panel is painted a vioram green color and then custom milled to inscribe a continuous graphic of icons inspired by Hebrew co'Digraphy.The inscribed grooves also work to deflect and damper sound between the two rooms. The renovation of these spaces gives the students of LGA access to modern digital technology while also strengthening the bond to traditional craft,evolving alongside the invention of new tools.
