They can be a bit different than ADA, and a little more restrictive. As far as Mass AAB is concerned, there's no waivers except directly from the board. I’m attaching the stamped engineering drawings for the ramp system that is being used for this installation, which will answer both the stamped drawing question and the load question. The ramp is 23’ with an additional 10’ of top platform. Though the drawing is somewhat misleading, the final 2’ of the ramp is not level but continues the slope. The Side-View (the top and middle drawings) is reversed, not a properly rotated view. The top view (bottom drawing) is correct. There is no sill required (theramp sits flush) and the ramp will not be attached to the building. It is a free-standing, self-supporting system, but following the client’s wishes, the feet will be anchored by concrete and asphalt anchors, according to the surface that each leg stands on. The church is making separate arrangements to install bollards as vehicle protection. Please let me know if we need to include information regarding that installation as part of this permit. If so, I will work with Ed Skroski to provide that. Please let me know if you need anything further and if it’s possible to waive the construction control documents. The proposed ramp is apparently permanent and part of the required means of egress. Based on the size and use of the building, Mass code requires construction control (107.6). There seems to be a discrepancy in dimensions (see attached); 21' of sloped run and a 23" total rise is steeper than 1:12. There's no information about the foundation or attachment to the building. What sort of sill will be between the ramp and the doorstep? There's no information about assumed live and concentrated loads (probably 100 and 300 psf); that was likely already done by the ramp manufacturer. It looks like the ramp is going in right next to the driveway; are there any plans for vehicle protection? If we get enough information, we could waive the requirements for construction control.
