Re: Approval of Dual Fuel-61 Locust St.
Given the fact that Columbia Gas is not allowing any new installations or increase in demand of natural
gas in the City I am approving the installation of propane in the building at 61 Locust St.The following
restrictions will apply to the installation.
• All gas piping will be dearly labeled in accordance with the gas code.This is for safety,to
dearly identify which gas is being transported in the piping.
• Signage is needed at the main front entrance and both locations of the natural gas meter and
where the propane enterers the building.
• Contact the Fire Prevention Officer for wording on the signage and inspection after installed
• Penn it is secured from the Fire Department for the storage of propane
• Bollards may be needed around the lank depending on location to provide bump protection.

Dear Matt,
This letter is to confirm that there is an existing gas service to 61 Locust Street,
Northampton, MA 01060. The natural gas delivered to this customer has a specific gravity
of 0.60 and a heating value of approximately 1,000 BTU/scf.
Columbia Gas of Massachusetts understands your need to use propane due to the new
gas load moratorium in this market and does not oppose the installation of natural gas and
propane within the same building

Osterman Propane will be engaging in the installation of an underground gas line at 61 Locust
St.Northampton Mass. Osterman Propane recognizes that this to be a duel fuels and will be
performing the work as stated in 248 CMR 5.1.3(a), (b) 1-5 in its entirety, for work performed by
Osterman Propane which is the underground line. Osterman Propane will insure that the
contractor of record is aware that his subcontractor for the gas piping inside is aware of of their
responsibility under 248 cmr 5.1.3 (a) (b) 1-5.

Dear Northampton Fire Dept.,
This request is concerning a dental office we are building at 61 Locust St.
We are proposing to install a new HVAC system on the second floor for the dental office.
However, using natural gas for my(3)new furnaces isn't a viable option as a fuel
according to Columbia Gas Co. This is why we are requesting permission to use
Liquid Propane for this function.If and when the moratorium on NG is ever lifted,
we will be set up to convert over to NG,eliminating the duel usage. Thank you
