Schedule delivery of items to installation areas that are in proper condition to receive them. Exposed Horizontal Surfaces: GP-50. 2. Exposed Vertical Surfaces: GP-50. 3. Postformed Surfaces: PF-42. 4. Thickness: Nominal 0.050 inch thick. 2.2 ACCESSORIES A. Adhesives: Low VOC adhesive, as recommended by laminate manufacturer and suitable for shop or field applica- tion. 1. Toxicity / IEQ: a. Comply with applicable regulations regarding toxic and hazardous materials. b. Comply with Green Seal Standard GS-36 for commercial aerosol adhesives. c. Comply with California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rule No. 1168 in areas where exposure to freeze/thaw conditions and direct exposure to moisture will not occur. In areas where freeze/thaw conditions exist or direct exposure to moisture can occur, then comply with California’s Bay Area AQMD Regulation 8, Rule 51 for containers larger than 16 oz. and with Cali- fornia Air Resource Board (CARB) for containers 16 oz or less. 2. Provide wainscot from high pressure laminate (HPL) materials specified above as shown on the Drawings. 2.7 CORNER GUARDS A. Corner Guards: Aluminum corner guards specified in Section 10260. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 GENERAL A. Install items specified herein where and as shown on the Drawings. 3.2 PLASTIC LAMINATE CASEWORK A. Where new plastic laminate is indicated for existing caswork, remove existing laminate and/or finishes to base substrate prior to installation of new. Installation of new laminate over existing is not acceptable, no exceptions. B. Install woodwork plumb, level, and straight without distortion; use concealed shims. Scribe and cut woodwork to fit adjoining work. Anchor woodwork items to nailers or blocking or directly to substrate using concealed fasten- ers. C. Casework: Provide well fitting and smooth operating doors and drawers. D. Countertops: Anchor plastic laminate countertops securely to base units. E. Install laminate with directional pattern or grain oriented vertically. 3.3 LAMINATE WAINSCOT A. Examine surfaces and adjacent areas where wainscot will be installed and verify that substrates are flat, clean, dry, solid, and free from coatings and defects detrimental to installation. Verify that surfaces conform to product man- ufacturer's requirements for substrate conditions unless otherwise shown or specified. B. Where new plastic laminate wainscot is to be installed, remove existing laminate and/or finishes to base substrate prior to installation of new. Installation of new laminate over existing is not acceptable, no exceptions. C. Prepare substrate for laminate wainscot installation in accordance with manufacturer's published instructions and recommendations unless otherwise shown or specified. D. Lay out laminate wainscot before installing. E. Securely attach wainscot panels to substrate at locations shown on the Drawings with adhesive specified in this Section. F. Provide extruded aluminum trim at joints between laminate panels and at exposed vertical and horizontal edges of laminate. G. Install woodgrain laminate with grain oriented vertically. END OF SECTION
