Fire details 2013-07-307/22/13 2:00 pm Structure fire Meadowbrook Building 2. Lowest unit, south end front. Significant damage to that unit, including some structural. Significant smoke and water damage to other units. Electrical inspector and 2nd Building inspector also at scene. Power, gas and water disconnected. Some residents escorted in by FD to retrieve necessities. Alarm company and electrician on site. Alarm system (system only to that building) reset with heat detectors only. Posted unsafe, fire watch Monday overnight. 7/23/13 8:00 am. FD released building. Meet w/ Preservation Housing management, Fire restoration contractor at site; also Electrical inspector. Discuss order to make safe, unsafe posting, possible access by tenants for personal belongings. Building unsafe to occupy but not structurall unsound except for unit that burned. OK for tenants, accompanied by Meadowbrook staff, to retrieve their belongings. Next steps for building; board up as needed, secure against unauthorized entry, fencing around dangeroys portion of the building (damaged windows, siding). 7/23/13 10:00 am. Building being made safe. Management will contact architect for Ch. 34 review, contractor to begin cleanup. Still posted unsafe. 7/25/13 10:00 am. Cleanup under way. Spoke to architect; plans underway to repair building enough to allow occupancy of 8-9 of the units; 3-4 will need more extensive work. 7/30/13 Spoke to architect again; discussed status of units. Plans proceeding to allow occupancy of 9 units. Authorized emergency repairs per 780 105.2.1. Permit with construction documents soon.
