GENERAL NOTES & NARRATIVE
THIS PLAN IS FOR THE NEW SPRINKLER SYSTEM AT 421 NORTH MAIN STREET. A
MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING IN LEEDS, MA. THE BUILDING WILL BE FITTED WITH AN
AUTOMATIC WET PIPE SPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGNED, INSTALLED AND TESTED PER
NFPA 13R 2007 IN ALL AREAS, AND MA BUILDING CODE 8TH EDITION.
THE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL PROVIDE AN ALARM UPON ACTIVATION OF A FIRE
SPRINKLER HEAD OR TEST VALVE. ALL CONTROL VALVES WILL HAVE TAMPER
SWITCHES.
THE SYSTEM IS WET PIPE HYDRAULICALLY CALCULATED WITH 4-HEADS IN LIVING AREA
PER NFPA 13R (2007) AND PER VIKING. SPEC. FOR A RESIDENTIAL CONCEALED
PENDENT HEAD WITH MAX SPACING OF 16'x 16' FOR A DWELLING UNIT, WITH STARTING
PRESSURE OF 7.0 PSI AND FLOW OF 13 GPM. AN ADDITIONAL CALCULATION WILL BE
PROVIDED FOR THE CRAWL SPACE TO A DENSITY OF .10/1500 SF WITH 100 GPM HOSE
ALLOWANCE PER NFPA 13 (2007).
OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE SPRINKLER SYSTEM PER NFPA 25, AND
PROVIDING ADEQUATE HEAT (42°F).
NEW EXPOSED PIPING IN 1-1/4" AND LARGER TO BESCH. 10 WITH DRILLED OUTLETS
AND MECH. "T's" AND GROOVED FITIINGS TO BE UUFM APPROVED. PIPING 1" TO BE
SCH. 40 THREADED WITH ULIFM LISTED APPROVED FITTINGS AND COUPLINGS.
NEW RESIDENTIAL CONCEALED PIPING TO BE ULIFM LISTED APPROVED CPVC PIPING
