Good Morning Louis;
The Turbine is a 5 KW turbine which will produce 20,000 KWHs annually. The foundation is the same
foundation we use for a single 10 KW turbine (which has twice the surface area) on the same tower height of
four sections. We found it easier to over build the tower and foundation to meet any condition we could find so
we don't have to redesign the tower and foundation every time we install one. The foundation has 12 yds of
concrete which is 36,000 lbs and we use a earth anchor foundation which adds the earth on the footings to
the anchor with a total foundation weight of 125,000 lbs of foundation anchor. The concrete is all reinforced
with 1/2 re-bar. The tower is likewise over built using much heavier steel than needed for this small turbine. If
you have any additional questions please feel free to call me at 413-348-8906.
PS: Kim;
Good luck on your weather I hope you catch a break and you get the swim in. I am hoping for the best.

Subject: Re: your phone call message to me
Good Morning - Thank you for your quick reply.
Mark - Can you clarify for Louis that the turbine foundation is adequate/appropriate for the turbine that is to be
installed. Please copy me on your correspondence. If I need to do this, please let me know and I will see to it
when I return. I assume/believe it is the way the turbines are "labeled/identified" on the submittals.
The weather is killing us right now too much wind - where is a wind turbine when I can really use it :) - it will be
very sad if we have prepared for 20 months, come all this way and the weather stops us from making the
attempt
Best,
Kim

I hope the weather over there cooperates for you. I signed the permit, but I want to be sure
the foundation/tower for the turbine matches the unit that goes on top. I can't imagine it
wouldn't, but the permit says 20,000 KW and the tower plans say 5 KW. I'd like some
clarification (likely from the company stating that the tower will support the turbine before it
is installed. Again, I'm sure it's fine but we want verification.
Good luck over there.

Louis - I am sorry but I was away and still am away helping one of my swimmers do an English Channel
Crossing and we have been hampered by bad weather/sea conditions. You left a message that you had
a question for me and if you email me, I will try to answer it or have Mark Maynard (Turbine person from
Urbanpower USA in Easthampton) answer it.
I am also trying to call your office.
Sorry for my not being home.
I hope all is well.
