Re: McCarthy Properties, Inc.

I write in response to your letter of June 19th 2012 regarding our property above. We regret
any confusion or misunderstanding we have caused the City of Northampton, and assure you that
we are proceeding with the work described in our building permit application.
The Central Business Architecture Commission application was continued to a later date to
enable our team time to evaluate the opportunities to expand or reduce the scope of work we were
considering. Since the work being applied for could change, we did not want to present and then
have to re-apply for a different scope of work. The conclusion of these evaluations is to proceed
with the original scope of work envisioned, though with a few minor revisions such as the color of
the storefront metal.
Our team has just completed value-engineering and soon will begin preparations for the
construction work. Our Public Hearing before the Central Business Architecture Commission is
scheduled for the July 25th, we anticipate a quick approval and then will wait the 21-day appeal
period to expire before we begin the construction. According to our contractor, Teagno
Construction Inc., construction should begin on or before September 10th and should be completely
finished within the next four months following. Please refer to the attached preliminary timeline.
We hope this explanation addresses your concerns outlined in your letter. Please contact me
if you require further information.
