Planned Use
Remove existing shingles. Install new plywood sheathing. Replace with architecturally appropriate
shingles, flashing and drip edge.
Remove asbestos siding. Repair existing square edge clapboards. Install new water table, pediments
over windows to match original, moldings on window trim and new (Marvin) architecturally correct six
over six windows.
Repair two porches and repaint house.
Project has been discussed with the neighbors with no objections and have received their approval.
Detailed Project Information
Special Permit Description: 1. No detriment effect for adjoining premises.
2. Less impact on traffic as we will provide one additional parking space.
3. As the totally inappropriate asbestos siding has been removed and the clapboards exposed, it far more
harmonious with the surrounding wood clapboard houses than it has been since 1933.
4. The act of removing asbestos has been performed by a state licensed and insured contractor protects
the general welfare.
5. There is no change to the amount of residential units and as one is owner -occupied, there will be two
less tenants.
6. There will be a larger grassed area with more suitable plantings for a house of this age.
7. We have met all zoning requirements as we have been issued a Permit by the Building Dept. on
6/15/2016, Permit No. BP -2016-1451.
Historic, Central Business Architecture Description: 1. There is no change whatsoever to the size,
shape, footprint of the existing building with the the exception of replacing six over six architecturally
correct windows for the age of the house, replacement of window pediments and moldings..
2. No new addition.
3. One additional bathroom, new windows throughout, new six over six historically correct windows,
two new exterior doors/same as above.
