SECTION 3 – DESIGN RESPONSIBILITY Sprinkler system design drawings and calculations shall be reviewed and stamped by a registered
Professional Engineer, registered in State of Massachusetts in discipline of Fire Protection
systems design, employed or contracted to review the design of the system for this building. The installing sprinkler system contractor shall contract such design work, as part of their overall
work scope. The reviewing engineer shall be the engineer of record. SECTION 4 – FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS TO BE INSTALLED
Installation of new CPVC wet sprinkler system to accommodate the basement, first, and second floors.
SECTION 5 – FEATURES USED IN THE DESIGN METHODOLOGY The building is designed for residential occupancy in all areas with sprinklers spaced to cover a maximum of 400 sq ft and calculated for a .05 density over the two most demanding heads. All
sidewalls are spaced for 16’x18’ and all pendents are 18’x18’.
SECTION 6 – SPECIAL CONSIDERATION AND DESCRIPTION

(1.a.ii) SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
SECTION 1 In the event of a fire, one or more sprinklers will operate. The installed network of piping will
supply water to the operating sprinklers. When a sprinkler operates (fuses), the flow of water will activate the flow switch and a local
electric bell will sound within the building alerting the occupants. The local alarm will not send a signal to the local fire department. The building is not equipped with a standpipe system or a FDC per NFPA 13D.
901.2.1 (1.a.iii) TESTING CRITERIA
SECTION 1 - Testing Criteria
The sprinkler system shall be tested in accordance with NFPA pamphlet 13.
SECTION 2 - Equipment and Tool
Sprinkler system installing contractor shall supply all necessary tools and equipment required to conduct the required testing of the systems.
SECTION 3 - Approval Requirements Upon the completion of the installation of the automatic fire sprinkler system, the installing contractor shall perform all tests required by NFPA-13.
