I'm not sure, but based on other types of equipment we've worked with, you'll likely need some sound enclosure/sound baffle. That's usually workable. Do you know where I can find the zoning regulations for noise levels? I'm assuming you've gotten your permits from the ABCC; we'll want copies. You will need a building permit. Based on the size and type of the building, the code (Chapter 1, section 107.6 and Chapter 34, section 104.2.2.1; see attached) requires that a "licensed design professional" evaluates the building and provides a review of the proposed work and whether you will need to address any code requirements. The evaluation needs to include the current use of the space, the occupancy classification of the proposed business, sketch plans of the location of the space in the building and the existing fire protection systems (sprinkler and / or alarm system). If the evaluation shows that the scope of work is minor in nature and not needing registered design professional services, all you'll need is a licensed contractor. We'll want information about the chiller, specifically about noise levels. Some are quite loud and there are zoning regulations about noise levels. I suspect that the trench drain will need some sort of trap or separator per plumbing and/or health codes. The DPW will need to know about the type of waste. I am currently working on a project in Florence, MA, where we are installing a cider brewery. We are putting it in an existing building, and are just making a few modifications to the building: 1. A trench drain from the process that connects to a private sewer on the property 2. Raising the height of two doorways 3. Installing a garage door on the side of the building for easy access 4. A foundation for a glycol chiller that will be installed in front of the building I spoke to David Veleta, who said that we would need a planning permit for this work, and Dan Rohan, our plumber will be getting approval for the sewer tie in. I'm wondering if there are any other permits required, and what my next steps should be?
