Dear Commission Members,
I have received an application to demolish one of the small buildings on the Three County
Fairgrounds. It is at the northwest corner of the property. It is referred to as the old carriage shed.
I am unable to accurately determine the date of construction; it is build with sawn dimensional
lumber and wire nails but it could very well be earlier than 1901.
The building is in very poor condition. The roof sheathing is gone over extensive areas. The
tops of the walls are rotting and the structure of the building has deteriorated.
I have marked the permit as needing demolition review. The building is visible from the back
yard of the house at 227 Bridge Street and from the fairgrounds. You can contact the Three County Fair
office at (413) 584-2237. Bruce Shallcross will arrange access to the building.
