OrderofConditions Letter 2011-01-27 January 27, 2011 City of Northampton Conservation Commission Office of Planning and Development 210 Main Street Room 11, City Hall Northampton, MA 01060 Ms. Sarah LaValley: Per the Department of Environmental Protection Order of Conditions issued on April 5, 2010 for the Three County Fairgrounds, 54 Fair Street, Northampton, MA 01060, the Northampton Conservation Commission requires a sequencing plan for construction, and erosion and sedimentation control installation. We will attempt to follow the construction sequence below as much as possible, however due to the existing winter conditions, some items of construction may have to be adjusted or moved within our sequencing plan. The one aspect of this sequencing plan that will not be moved or adjusted is the erosion and sedimentation control measures. All erosion control methods required by the Order of Conditions and detailed on the site drawings provided by Berkshire Design, Inc. will be fully adhered to. This includes site protection and the protection of existing and new catch basins. This erosion control will be inspected daily and corrected immediately if necessary. The following Sequencing of Operations is how we foresee the construction proceeding at this time. Erosion Control See above. Abatement This includes the excavation, exposure and removal of the existing underground piping. Demolition This includes buildings O, N, M, K, H, C, D, E, P, Q and R, detailed on sheet SE-1 of the Berkshire Design, Inc. drawings. Water Lines Portions of the existing water line will be exposed and the installation of gate valves will occur. This will disconnect the water service in the construction zone until the new water lines are installed. Prepare the pad area for Building 1. This includes the removal of snow and the raising of the existing grade to near finish grade levels. Force Main The existing force main water system will be dismantled and pumps and fire hose will be stored on site should any emergency require immediate action. Building 1 Columns This includes the coring for the placement of concrete footings and the erection of wooden building columns. Prepare the pad area for Building 2. This includes the removal of snow and the raising of the existing grade to near finish grade levels. Building 2 Columns This includes the coring for the placement of concrete footings and the erection of wooden building columns. Abatement 10.1 This includes the completion of all abatement and the backfill involved in the closing of the existing trench. Prepare the pad area for Building 3. This includes the removal of snow and the raising of the existing grade to near finish grade levels. Building 3 Columns This includes the coring for the placement of concrete footings and the erection of wooden building columns. Wooden Framing This includes the installation of all wooden framing materials on all three buildings. Trusses Building 1 This includes the installation of all truss members. Exterior Metals Building 2 This includes the installation of metal roofing and siding. Trusses Building 2 This includes the installation of all truss members. Exterior Metals Building 2 This includes the installation of metal roofing and siding. Trusses Building 3 This includes the installation of all truss members. Exterior Metals Building 3 This includes the installation of metal roofing and siding. Grading and Excavation During all of the above, all other excavation requirements and the installation of site drainage trenches will proceed when the weather permits it. Thank you.
