Dear Mr. Hopkins,
I am writing to support the application for a variance submitted by Cosentini Associates on
behalf of Smith College for renovations to Cutter-Ziskind House. Their request asks for a variance from
the requirements of the Architectural Access Board regulations concerning stair tread nosing profiles
and door maneuvering clearances.
The existing conditions are very close to code requirements and meeting the specific
requirements would be impracticable. Alternate, fully compliant routes are readily available in the
immediate vicinity.
