Longmeadow, MA. 01028 RE: Recent complaint against your property/249-251 South Street, Northampton, MA Dear Mr. Charron / DNB Properties, LLC. This letter is to inform you that our office is in receipt of a complaint against your property located at 249-251 South Street, Northampton, MA. The complaint aledges that the tenants are charging admission to parties in which various musical bands play and disturbing the peace in the neighborhood. These concerts are alleged to be loud and disruptive as well as a potential for overloading the dwelling. This type of activity if taking place must stop and is not allowed under Northampton's zoning ordinances. In addition trash and other debris are left around the yard and by unregistered vehicles. On a recent neighborhood visit while in open space, I did view your property and noticed several areas of concern and that I found not to be safe. The rear of the garage has a deck; this deck has no fall protection or guards. The stairs to the house from the rear have no hand rails. The platform to the stairs has no guards or protection. The roof top deck appears to have never been permitted and questions arise if it could withstand normal loads. The chimney by the roof top deck appears to be collapsing in the direction of that rooftop deck and roof. Please have a licensed contractor look into the needed corrections and also provide this office with an engineer's report on the capabilities and recommendations for the roof top deck and repairs needed. I would ask you to file reports on these items and how they will be corrected within 30-days from this letter. Please feel free to contact me should you wish to discuss this matter. Respectfully, Kyle Scott Building Inspector City of Northampton (413) 587-1240 kscott@northamptonma.gov
