Report For: Wm J Turomsha Design and Construction
Attn.: Bill
PO Box 141
Leeds, MA 01053
Project: Residence
206 Elm Street
Northampton, MA
Scope: Al Spectrum Services was contracted to perform a limited asbestos inspection at
the above entitled property. The purpose of the inspection was to identify select
suspect materials in terms of presence of asbestos so they can be removed prior
to renovations.
The scope of work was defined by the General Contractor.
Date of
Inspection: July 19, 20.16
Methodology: Industrial.hygiene services were conducted by Robert F Gravallese, a
Professional Industrial Hygienist and Massachusetts licensed asbestos inspector.
Those materials suspected to be asbestos containing were sampled,
containerized, labeled and transferred to a Massachusetts licensed laboratory for
analysis by Polarized Light Microscopy.
Sample locations were selected, whenever possible, on the basis of being able to
obtain all strafes or multi layer or potentially multi layer materials. When this was
not a needed consideration samples were collected at random locations with the
aide of the computer application: Geomidpoint.com/random. The program is
useful when the area is a regular geometric object such as a square or rectangle.
For the purposes of this report the front(street side) of the building will be
considered facing North.
Analysis: Analysis of the bulk samples were performed by EPA Method
600/R-93/116, July 1993 (Polarized Light Microscopy).
All samples were analyzed by Asbestos ID Lab. Woburn, MA. A Mass.
DLS licensed and NVLAP accredited laboratory. (Mass#AA 0000216).

Findings. There is an asbestos containing material on the building in
the form of Transite Shingles. It is suggested the material be removed by a
Mass. DLS licensed asbestos abatement contractor.
All other suspect materials were negative for the presence of asbestos.

Recommendations: The asbestos containing materials should be removed by a Mass. DLS
licensed asbestos abatement contractor.
There is a ten day notification period which must lapse prior to the start of
abatement work.

Dear Bob Gravallese,
Asbestos Identification Laboratory has completed the analysys of the samples from your office for the above referenced project
The information and analysis contained in this report have been generated using the EPA /600/R-93/116 Method for the
Determination of Asbestos in Bulk Building Materials. Materials or products that contain more than 1% of any kind or
combination of asbestos are considered an asbestos containing building material as determined by the EPA. This Polarized
Light Microscope (PLM) technique may be performed either by visual estimation or point counting. Point counting provides a
determination of the area percentage of asbestos in a sample. If the asbestos is estimated to be less than 10% by visual
estimation of friable material, the determination may be repeated using the point counting technique. The results of the point
counting supersede visual PLM results. Results in this report only relate to the items tested. This report may not be used by
the customer to claim product endorsement by NVLAP or any other U.S. Government Agency.
Laboratory results represent the analysis of samples as submitted by the customer. Information regarding sample location,
description, area, volume, etc., was provided by the customer. Asbestos Identification Laboratory is not responsible for sample
collection activities or analytical method limitations. Unless notified in writing to return samples, Asbestos Identification
Laboratory discards customer samples after 30 days. This report shall not be reproduced, except in full, without the written
consent of Asbestos Identification Laboratory.
