Fire suppression systems: A. TP will require sprinklers in the cafe areas. Theses areas are "substantially renovated" portion of the existing building. This area is also a change of use. This is also considered an addition and will require fire suppression because of the " use" requirements of Al Theaters. B. TP will not require sprinklers in the orchestra or balcony areas because these are not "substantially renovated" portions of the existing building. C . TP stated that the sprinklers required in the theater are to be class III standpipe systems. The code states that 2 1/2" is minimum diameter for supply standpipe, and 1 1/2" dia. hose stations are minimums. All of the existing sprinklers must be repaired to working order. D . TP considers the mezzanine area to be;a class III standpipe system and we only need the addition of a 2 1/2" hose connection for the fire department.. E. Proscenium: TP stated that either a fire curtain or deluge system are acceptable alternates to fire separating the stage from the orchestra. Hobie Iselin is pricing both options for a determination. F. TP stated that since the grid above the stage has less than 70% openings, the sprinkler system must cover the area above and below the grid. This means we must install new sprinklers under the grid. Those above the grid must be repaired to working order. 8. Doors/Windows A. New exterior doors proposed: Metal doors with aluminum framing with wood trim on face of metal framing. B. HI needs to know wheter we have any problems with a vertical lift door at the stage load-in door. C. HI needs spec on folding partition door in dressing room. 9. Finishes A. Cleaning spec to be separated from painting spec. By TD for Monday April 6. B. Paint samples to be completed by Friday April 10 Thomas Douglas Architects 76 Crescent Street Northampton,Ma 413-585-0641 fax 5829882 TD will identify sample areas by Monday April 6 C. Electrical inspector wants all wiring which is to remain to be painted with orange paint for identification. His questionable areas include existing wiring in conduit or bx or other metal shielding that is to remain. He would like to arrange a walk through with the selected electrical contractor, Hobie Iselin, and the architect to review wiring to remain. B. TD recommends that no chandeliers be.repaired. All chandeliers will be new. The only fixtures we are rewiring will be the plaster wall sconces. Preliminary pricing from Hobie is $200 each for rewiring, cleaning, and prime coat painting with off white flat primer. Best Regards, Tom Douglas CC Eric Suher, Hobie Iselin,Joanne Smith, Ryan Hellwig
