This letter summarizes the inspection and analysis of the residence at 121 Oak Street in Florence to
determine if the structure is adequate to support a roof mounted solar PV system.

the house being considered for solar is of conventional stick-framed construction . The main roof ridge
runs east to west with the solar array planned to cover portions of the south roof.Original construction
drawings were available and the roof and supporting structure were measured and analyzed for the
additional dead load of two rows of solar PV modules: each row of modules beim mounted on two rails
lint[€kip attacltcd with mounting feet. Based on the analysis the existing structure will accommodate the
additional toad of the system. The solar mounting feet are to be staggered and spaced so that the
loading is evenly distributed between the rafters.
It is my professional opinion. based on my review and inspection,that the installation of the solar PV
as pr op"Osed on,the south side of the roof meets the minimum criteria of the Massachusetts State
Building Code 780 CNIR Eighth Edition.
