I am requesting an extension of building permits P-2016-0238 and BP-2016-0237 taken out by
contractor Hank Silver for construction of a garden shed and pavilion at the community garden
owned by Grow Food Northampton at 140 Meadow Street in Florence.As I have discussed with
` Building Department staff,delays in construction were caused by the Massachusetts Department of
Agricultural Resources'failure to timely consider our application for Certificates of Approval for these
structures.We continue to address this failure with MDAR,and are optimistic that one or both
buildings can be built this year after they issue a certificate and weather and site conditions become
favorable.An extension to the latest allowable will give us much-appreciated flexibility in scheduling
construction once the certificate is in hand.
