Initiate your city's efforts regarding his homeless project. We have expedited your request in
order to ccmpiy with tery short time tables but lock forwara to deveiopfng a more detailed
agreement with you in the near future. As we djwussed, his document intends that ail liability
issues, funding Issues, renovation erfort& and occupanq permits are the responsibil'dy of the
City of Northampton.
We are pleased to be able to cooperate in providing leasing opportundies for homeless
individuals. However, I'm sure you will understand that our primary responsibility must be to
the health, safety, and well being of patients In our care at Northampton State Hospital.
nerefore, 1 trust you will fadfitate gaperation between the homeless coalition and the
management and secsrity. staff at Northampton State Hospital to ensure that good order, health
and sanitary conditions are maintained during the occupancf of the site. fiis may become of
greater concern if the number of Individuals camping around the building increases.
