31A-045 City of Northampton Massachusetts ., DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING INSPECTIONS 212 Main Street • Municipal Building d ~ Northampton, MA 01060sbpau October 27, 2015 Mr. Lee Feldscher 46 Oak Street Florence, MA 01062 RE: Code Violations 261 Crescent Street, Northampton, MA Dear Mr. Feldsher: Recently at the request of one of your tenants and the city water department the plumbing and gas inspector Larry Eldridge and I, performed an inspection of the cellar area of 261 Crescent Street a property owned by you. The tenant was concerned about the water quality in the building. Upon on our inspection we found a few issues of concern. The water line appears to have recently had work done to it. No permits were processed for any work at the above address. The work done was in violation of the Massachusetts plumbing code 248 CMR and section 10.14 water supply and water distribution systems. The newly placed line is of PVC piping and this is NOT ALLOWED for potable water distribution. I addition to the waterline issues the following concerns are at the same dwelling: (1). Open and uncapped sewer line (2). Chimney badly in need of cleaning as to the point debris falling knocked the access door cleanout to the floor. (3). Knob and tube wiring and mixed wiring that could be a fire hazard (4). Lack of smoke and carbon monoxide protection I would ask you to correct these issues as soon as possible and no longer than 60-days of the receipt of this letter. I hope to have your cooperation in this matter. Respe Fcott 0 Kyle J. City of Northampton, MA. Local Building Inspector/Zoning enforcement Tel. (413) 587-1240 Fax (413) 587-1272 [ Cc: Board of Health
