DECISION OF
ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
At a meeting held on April 24, 1985, the Zoning Board of Appeals of
the City of Northampton voted unanimously to grant the Special Permit request
of Andrew A. Church, 61A North Main Street, (Florence , Northampton to
convert a two-family dwelling into a three-family dwelling at 61 North
Main Street, (Florence), Northampton. Present and voting were: Acting
Chairman William Brandt, Kathleen M. Sheehan and Peter Laband.
IIThe findings were as follows:
K. Sheehan, referring to Section 10.10, found that the use is listed
in the Table of Use Regulations; that the requested use bears a positive
relationship to the public welfare, as the City is in need of more
apartments in good locations such as this, near a number of conveniences;
that although North Main Street, Florence is a busy road, the parking
spaces are laid out well and the addition of one unit will not unduly
create traffic congestion; that the requested use will not overload i
municipal systems, noting that any problem with piping size would j
be one that the tenants may face; that Article XI does not apply;
and that the requested use will not impair the character of the
district, as there are many multifamily uses in the area.
P. Laband concurred.
W. Brandt concurred.
i The following conditon shall apply:
i
That provisions shall be made for the parking area, so that
cars exit the driveway onto North Main Street facing forward
rather than backward.
