1 request tlxat you grant a modification to waive the requirement control construction for the Roof
Replacement at 242 King Street in Northampton because the work is of a minor mature, will not affect
health, accessibility, life and fire safety,or structural requirerents and is impractical in that the cost of
control construction is considerable when compared to the cost of the proposed work. All work will be
completed within the prescriptive requirements of 780 CMR. Thank you for your consideration. "Mass
Amendments, section 107.1 allows for an exclusion from control construction for this project.

• Mechanically attach 4.6"Polyisocyanurate Insulation to the existing deck.
• Mechanically attach Carlisle.060 TPO rooting membrane with heat welded seams over
Polyiso.
• Flash all walls,drains and roof penetrations according to manufacturers'specifications.
• Clean up and remove all related debris from jobsite and dispose of property in an
approved container.

After a thorough evaluation of the roof located at your 242 King Street Northampton, MA property
1 have compiled this report along with a proposal for a new roofing system.
The roofing area is a split level design,and currently has two different roofing systems.
RADIO SHACK(approx.5000 syit)
The Radio Shack side of the building has a mechanically attached reinforced EPDM roofing
membrane over 2.5"of Polyisocyanurate Insulation and Extruded polystyrene flute filler.I
recommend removing the membrane only and leave the existing Polylso insulation in place,
removing and replacing only any damaged or wet areas.
• Install an additional 2"of Polyiso over the insulatian existing to meet current code
regulations.
• Mechanically attach Carlisle Syn-Tec.060 TPO roofing membrane with heat welded
seams over the insulation.
• Flash all walls and roof penetrations according to manufacturer's specifications
+ Remove any obsolete rooftop equipment.
• Clean up and remove ail associated debris from property and dispose of properly In an
approved container.
