On 3/10/15, we conducted a site visit and investigated the 1950 ranch style house roof framing for the proposed PV panel installation. The solar panels will be installed on a recently constructed 30' wide addition to the main house. The addition is framed with 2x4 Modified Queenpost roof trusses installed at 20" on-center, spanning 30' with a 4.5/12 pitch. The addition roof ridge is perpendicular to the main house ridge. The addition roof continues as a layover roof framed with 2x10's on the west facing roof of the main house. The roofing is asphalt shingles. 1 have reviewed the mounting details for the proposed array. Based on a PV panel unit weight of approximately 37 Ibs, with the attachment points of the array placed at a maximum of 4' on center and staggered to minimize the load to any one roof truss,the existing roof framing is adequate to support the proposed PV array.
