RE: Impaired Sprinkler System.
Dear Charlie:
Enclosed is a copy of the letter we received from Rybak Engineering, Inc. as to the status of
your automatic sprinkler system. As suspected and discussed during our last quarterly inspection,
it is now both Our and Rybak Engineering's opinion, the sprinkler system must be considered
fully impaired and no.n operational until the water tank or water supply is restored to it's original
condition. Steps should be taken, immediately to address this problem and a plan should be put
into place in the interim.
I spoke to Deputy Chief Nichols about this situation on 12/28/04 and have forwarded him a
copy of this letter.
Thank you for the opportunity to be of service to you, if you have any questions or we can be
of any additional service please don't hesitate to call.
Yours Truly,
Bay State Sprinkler Co., Inc.

Pursuant to your conccm for the status of the sprinkler system at this address-I visited the site on
12/21/04 to obtain information regarding the water supply and the sprinkler system.
It is my professional opinion that the sprinkler system must be considered fully impaired and not
operational until the water tank/water supply is restored to it's original operating condition.
This opinion is based on analysis of the following:
a. Water tank on site is out of service
b. Static pressure varies greatly with domestic demands(20 psi static pressure fluctuations)
c_ Water hydrant flow as observed by Baystate Sprinkler
d. Hazard classification of occupancy(includes kitchen/mechanical)
e. Elevation of site and distance to alternate water supply
f: Existing pipe sizing
g. Existing standard response sprinklers.
i understand that you intend to inform the owner and fire department of this condition.
Sincerely,
a'
Carl C.Koslowski,P.E.
