Dear Ms. Stack:
It has come to our attention that as of this date, you have not
applied for a building and plumbing permit for certain work being done
at your residence at 86 North Maple Street.
Although some work may be done without a permit, there are two
areas in your proposal which may require permits . These two areas are:
(1) the installation of a new pantry door in a location
differing from the present one , and
(2) the removal of a sink which is to be replaced by a
built-in unit.
In referring to the guidelines in the brochure City of Northampton,
Massachusetts, Community Development Program, Housing Rehabilitation )
Program, Rules and Instructions , Planning Department, August, 1977 ,
page 14, Section 402 (a) , it states , "Zoning, building, and other
required permits should have been obtained by the applicant. " If work
is performed without acquiring the necessary permits, you may be
jeopardizing your reimbursement of $800.00.
I urge you to contact the Building Inspector ' s Office and resolve
this matter as soon as possible in order that your reimbursement will
not be jeopardized .
