Re: Permit#2-1999-0659
City of Northampton
Route 9,Approx. Sta. 4+20
Bridge Street
Dear Mr. Hoey:
We are writing on behalf of our client, owners of property at 259 Bridge Street and
through the office of the City of Northampton Department of Public Works. We prepared
plans for the sanitary sewer connection from the house at 259 Bridge Street to the City of
Northampton sanitary sewer manhole located in Bridge Street. Our design included jacking
a pipe from the manhole to the property line.
The permit issued to the City of Northampton for the work proposed was approved
with the exception that the jacking was to be from the property to the manhole. We believe
the jacking from the manhole is a far superior method, which will ensure that there is no
damage to the to the pavement. I have discussed this matter with Mr. Jack Larareo of the
Department's office today. I understand we may proceed with the jacking plan as originally
proposed, that is,jacking from the manhole to the private property at 259 Bridge Street.
Very truly yours,
Paul B. Hatch, PE
