Tony these are the minutes of this mornings meeting pertaining to the complaint at 157 Bridge Street. On 2/14/99 at the request of Bay State Gas Company an inspection was conducted at 157 Bridge Street basement apartment.The following people were present Building Inspector Stanley Szewczyk,Bill Gayle,Dave Byron Gas Company Representatives,Two non English speaking Tenants and myself. The Gas Company had redtagged the apartments heating system the previous day due to roll out created by poor draft and lack of combustion air. The apartment was measured during the inspection,The total cubic feet arrived at was approximately 5,000 cubic feet.The total btu use is four water heaters at 30,000 each,one large boiler at 175,000,one small boiler at 75,000 giving a combined total of 370,000 btu's. The apartment has about half the combustion and make up air necessary for efficient and hazard free heating.The apartment should have c o detectors installed immediately as a temporary measure of safety.A slit in the plastic near the water heater room was made as an immediate temporary solution. To remedy the poor situation, the following steps should be taken. 1. Install duct work for combustion air in water heater room. 2. Install duct work for comustion air in the boiler room, and make the boiler room accessible for maintenance and flue cleaning purposes. The tennants had difficulty understanding because of a language barrier,the Building Inspector did his best to convey the problems to them.
