Conclusions As illustrated in Table 1, the change in use at this facility will result in an overall reduction of daily, weekday morning peak hour, and weekday evening peak hour vehicle trips. Daily trips can be expected to be reduced by as much as 70 per day(35 entering and 35 exiting). During the weekday morning a total of 8 fewer trips will access the site and approximately 9 fewer during the weekday evening peak hour. The proposed use is therefore expected to reduce site traffic activity by about 45%. If you have any other questions regarding this information please contact this office. Sincerely, Stephen J. After renovation, the existing building on North Street will contain approximately 6,981 square feet of office space and one residential apartment unit. This letter summarizes our findings and the comparison of these uses. Trip Generation The existing retail dry cleaners service is proposed to be replaced by 6,981 square feet of office space on the ground floor and one apartment on the second floor. According to customer transaction data collected in 2000,May was the peak month for the existing facility. Using this data we were able to determine an average daily trip generation for this month of approximately 154 trips daily(77 entering and 77 exiting). Assuming an eight hour work day, the existing site generates, on average, approximately 20 trips during the weekday morning and weekday evening peak hour (10 entering and 10 exiting). Using the 6th Edition Trip Generation Report, published by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), we were able to calculate the trips expected to be generated by the new uses for this site. Land Use Code(LUC) 710 General Office was used to determine the number of trips generated by the office space and LUC 220 Apartments was used to determine the amount of trips generated by the apartment unit. Using this information the proposed facility is expected to generate approximately 84 daily trips (42 entering and 42 exiting). During the weekday morning peak hour the facility is expected to generate approximately 12 total trips (10 entering and 2 exiting) and 11 total trips (3 entering and 8 exiting) during the weekday evening peak hour. Table 1 illustrates the existing trips generated as compared to the proposed trips generated by this facility. F:\P2001\Z001044\A I0\mjc05O8tripgen.wpd ROBERT D.
