Tais is the Decision of the . Board of Appeals of the City of Northampton on a petition filed by Fi O P TRUST and ENID REALTY TRUST, requesting a variance from the provisions of Chapter 44 , :section 4B, Paragraph 3, of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Northampton. The petitioners request the Board grant a variance to permit the petitioners to operate a wholesale and retail office supple store and to carry on any and all activities associated with such business . The premises affected are situated at 239-240 nridge Street and are designated on the Assessors Map of the City of Northampton as Parcel 85, Sheet 25C. The matter was duly advertised on February 27 , 1974 and March 6 , 1974, in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, and was heard by the Board on March 20 , 1974 . Charles W. Dragon, Chairman presided at the hearing a^d heard the matter with Board Members Cec l I , Clark and Edward F. Keefe. The petitioners were present and were represented by Attorney William E. Dwyer. There were no objectors. The Board unanimously found that a substantial hardship exists with relation to this parcel of land as the property consists mainly of a commercial building located in a residential area. The premises have been used for business purposes since 1940 and are not compatable to residential uses. The Board further unanimously found that desirable relief may be granted without substantial detriment to the public good as the proposed use is in keeping with the present use by variance and the former non- ; conforming use.
