Installation Instructions
The S-5-U, S-5-S, S-5-E and S-5-13 clamps are made for typical standing seam profiles. When
attaching to machine folded seams (regardless of panel profile and geometry). S-5!(5 clamps are
designed to engage the seam as shown. For horizontal seam applications, the setscrews must be
accessible from the top for tightening.
On many snap-together type seams, the setscrews are opposite the open (or overlap) side of the
seam. On some seams, this aspect of clamp orientation is not critical. The S-5-U has four setscrew
locations to make the clamp more versatile, however, only two setscrews are used per clamp. The
setscrews should always be placed on the same side of the clamp. Determine how to position the
clamp, and for the S-5-U, which side of the clamp to load the setscrews into.
For maximum holding strength, setscrews should be tensioned and re-tensioned as the seam
material compresses. When relying on tested values, screw tension should be verified using
a calibrated torque wrench between 160 and 180 inch pounds when used on 22ga steel and
between 130 and 150 inch pounds for all other metals and thinner gauges of steel. Consult the
S-5!@ website at www.S-5.com for published data regarding holding strength.

S-5-U Clamp
The S-5-U clamp is by far our most LO
popular and most versatile clamp.
It fits about 85%of the standing
seam profiles manufactured in North `
America—including most structural and
architectural profiles. It can be used on
vertically oriented seams and, by rotating
the clamp 90 degrees, it can also be used
C on most horizontal 2"seam profiles.
i Its simple design,generous dimensioning
OR and multiple hole orientations are what
make the S-5-U clamp so versatile for use
with the S-5!1 snow retention products,
such as ColorGard°,as well as with other
heavy-duty applications.
} Installation is as simple as setting the
specially patented round-point setscrews

Re: Building Permit for 259 Chesterfield Rd. Leeds, Ma 01053
To the Building Inspector:
The roof structure at 259 Chesterfield Rd. Leeds, Ma 01053 is constructed of 2x12" SPF#2 rafters @ 16"
on center, a maximum span of 13' 3" with a 10/12 pitch. The sheathing is 1/2" plywood and there is one
layer of asphalt shingles covering the roof surface. Based on the 8th edition of the International Building
Code, and the Ground Snow Load of 40 psf,the roof structure is strong enough to support the additional
3psf of the proposed photovoltaic modules and racking. The photovoltaic modules' rail attachment
points will be in a staggered pattern with rail mounting feet no more than 4'on center to most evenly
distribute the weight of the photovoltaic array.
