The following are my findings: There was a chimney fire at 8:04 A.M. on January 21, 1980. The chimney is of concrete block with a tile flue construc- tion. Mortar lines and block placement give the appearance of poor construction. Combustible structural wood was not removed to a proper distance for safe usage. There are visual signs of cracking in the blocks. The base of the stove in Apt. #29 does not extend 18" beyond the stove front, and 12" on the sides. Because of questionable construction and possible damage from the fire, I would suggest that you have the chimney checked by a competent mason, and the changes made before there is a more calamitous fire.
