Re: Special Permit Requirements for Airport Events
A site visit to the Airport today was conducted to review permit requirements for the snowmobile drag
racing event that is planned for this weekend. I asked Dick Giusto to fax me a copy of the notice that
he is required to send to abutters, police, and fire at least 15 days prior to small events in accordance
with the special permit conditions. Dick stated that he had sent a generic letter to abutters, the OPD,
Police, Fire, Building, and Mayors office in the spring (April or May) that stated that there would be 6
events during the season but dates had not been identified. I told him that I had not seen this particular
letter.
Upon file review, I could only find 1 letter from March 2001 indicating notice to abutters of the
Barnstorming Country music event for August 4. There were no other letters in the Mayor's Office, or
Building office related to other events. Dick called to say that he did not have a copy of the letter that
he sent to abutters. I informed him that none of the offices here had copies either and that some
abutters had indicated that they were unaware of these events. I also requested that in the future he
should keep all copies of notices he sends and send copies to OPD certified mail.
