Includes installation of header and structural framing, alterations to
third floor framing add 1 x 2" x 6" to each floor joists above kitchen.
Strap ceiling with 1 x 3 spruce. Install duct work for range hood.
Install blocking for cabinets and sheetrock nailers.
Install %" PTS plywood underlayment in bedroom and closet
approximately 220 SF.
Third Floor;
Bedroom #1 — Remove front wall of closet. Reframe new front and side
wall to create a larger closet. Wall to have provisions for a 2'-6" x 6'-
6" door. Reframe rear wall of closet. Add blocking for shelving.
Patch holes made be electricians.
Sitting Area — Remove existing window. Reframe opening to accept 2'-11 "
x 2'-11 " casement egress window. Window to have tempered glass.
Window installation includes removal of siding, new 3/4" plywood
sheathing, window trim and repairs to siding. Repair to ceiling
framing. Patch holes made by electricians and plumbers (for heat
installation).
Bathroom — Remove existing window, frame in opening, cover exterior with
sheathing (exterior siding repair by owner). Frame new walls as per
plan. Cut openings in floor for plumbing installation. Reframe floor
for plumbing waste lines and heat lines. Frame walls for bath closet.
Repair wall framing. Strap and shim ceiling around skylight.
Installation of bath fan and duct work to exterior.
Bedroom #2 — Reframe wall around chimney. Frame open shelf area.
Patch openings in walls made by electricians. Remove and replace
baseboard for electrical wiring.
General Carpentry;
Cover entire third floor with '/2" PTS plywood underlayment. Includes
shimming existing floor to be flat (within reasonable tolerances).
Cover second floor bathroom and third floor bathroom floors with '/4"
luan plywood underlayment for sheet vinyl. Includes leveling as
needed.
Remove baseboards and floor boards for electrical wiring. Patch when
wiring has been completed.

CONSTRUCTION;
For second and third floor apartment located at 118 North Street,
Northampton, Massachusetts. All specifications and quotations
reference revised plans dated 15 April 2000.
Second Floor;
Bathroom — Remove existing window. Reframe wall to accept 2'-6" x 3'-)"
double hung window (with single glazed glass). Window to have flat
casings to match existing exterior trim. Patch exterior sheathing.
Cover with clapboards.
Remove existing wall framing and existing flooring to expose floor
framing and existing plumbing waste lines, vents and water lines to
provide access for fixture relocation. Reframe floor to provide for
relocation of toilet and plumbing fixtures. Reframe bathroom walls, 2
x 4" 16" on center. Pad out exterior wall. Reframe ceiling for light
heater. Strap ceiling for sheetrock. Insulate between floor joists as
sound barrier. Cover floor joists with 3/4" CDX plywood subfloor.
(Price includes all carpentry necessary to install all plumbing fixtures,
electrical panel.), and SER cable from service in basement to panel on
second floor rear hall.
Bedroom 1 — Install 2 x 2 x 8 header to support third floor, remove rear
wall of closet. Reframe closet wall in front of chimney in dining room.
Frame around chimney with 2 x 3 studs (as provided by fire code).
Frame in one door to bedroom. Repair ceiling strapping. Frame for
closet door.
Hallway — Strap ceiling with 1 x 3 spruce. Shim ceiling to match up with
existing plaster finish in front hallway. Install nailers for sheetrock as
needed. Prep wall framing for sheetrock.
Kitchen — Remove existing window from northwest wall of kitchen. Frame
in opening. Patch sheathing on exterior. Cover sheathing with
clapboard to match existing. Remove finish flooring (to be reused)
and subflooring to expose floor framing for relocation of plumbing
lines to existing kitchen sink location, and in area of new sink.
Alterations and repairs to floor framing. Patch subflooring. Reinstall
finish floor. Straighten framing on southeast wall. Frame kitchen wall
adjacent to bathroom. Enlarge opening between kitchen and hallway.
