When you and I spoke on the phone on June 10th, you explained the situation to me and pro- mised that within 60 to 90 days you will have cleaned up the area either by removing all materials from the outdoor area and/or screening them from view. You also assured me that your insurance company had advised that the material should be moved away from the building and that you had complied with that suggestion. Subsequently two further things have come to my attention which prompt this ' letter. The Deputy Fire Chief raised concerns relative to a potential fire hazard. He and the Building Inspector visited the property on June 13th. They left word asking you to call the Fire Department. They had not yet heard from you as of this morning. The Fire Chief feels that because of the classification of the property as industrial, they cannot rule that your materials are a fire hazard (and order them removed) . However. , they are concerned and want to discuss the matter with you. Secondly, I have been advised that a heavy vehicle (s) delivering materials used the driveway and parking area of WMBL/US Express and backed onto your property leaving tracks in the US Express parking area. It would be appro- priate for you to advise me and/or US Express of how this occurred and whether you expect any such future deliveries. Clearly, if there is any need to use this access to your property, permission should be sought from US Express. For your reference , I will quote from the Redevelopment Plan on the subject of "storage:" "All materials , supplies and equipment shall be stored within the structure in accord with Fire Prevention Standards of the National Board of Fire Underwriters or shall be screened from view from public ways or abutting properties." I feel confident that everyone would be willing to provide you with a reason- able amount of time to comply with this provision. However, the concerns of r ,Vorthmptom Redevelop ift v4utlforitry' MEMORANDUM TO: Ted Tewhill, Building Inspector FROM: Penny Kim, Economic Development Coordinator SUBJECT: Harlow Industries DATE: duly 31, 1986 FILE: Harlow Industries plans to enclose an area behind their building with fencing and to construct a shelter for wood which will be stored therein. I have reviewed the plan and find it in accordance with requirements of the Redevelopment Plan, The NRA met yesterday and concluded that matters such as these need not be brought to their attention. Their sense is that once the property is sold by the NRA to a private developer, the office of the Building Inspector is the appropriate place and authority for the review of plans, application for permits, and the enforcement of City-wide and Park regulations. I continue to be available to discuss any Park related activity,
