Dear Building Commissioner Patillo,
In accordance with Section 116 of the Massachusetts State Building Code (6a`Edition), I,
William V. DeFlavio, as the Professional Engineer of Record, submit the following
report:
Date of inspection:
The Engineer visited the site to record the progression of the building's construction and
to inspect the pre-engineered steel framing system.
Progress/Inspection
The building's steel framing system is approximately 80% complete. The Engineer noted
that the primary framing such as columns, both exterior and interior, main frame rafters,
end rafters, and mezzanine carrying beam are in place. Secondary framing including roof
purlins, bar joists for the second floor, and wall girts are installed. Wall girts in the east
wall between column lines 1 and 3 have not been installed to allow entry of construction
equipment.
The Engineer observed that most of the required bracing is in place. Roof flange braces
were noted as well as much of the roof rod bracing is installed. Exceptions were noted in

The interior stud walls are approximately 85% complete. 25 gage metal studs were
installed to the bottom of the second floor framing or roof rafters in the lower portion of
the building. The walls were located as per the drawing with the exception of the door
into Shipping and Receiving, which was relocated around the corner to the adjacent wall.
An office, the entry at the east stairs, and the sprinkler room were not framed as of yet.
Door openings were in and verified as to locations including the doorway into the
existing building from Quality Control. It was noted that the openings to the existing
building in Shipping and Receiving as well as the interior window framing have not been
installed.
The north wall of the existing building had been prepared to accommodate the design of
the new building. The existing horizontal windows were removed and the openings
covered with framing and 1/2" gypsum wall board. Existing exterior metal wall panels at
Shipping and Receiving were removed to prepare to open the new building to the existing
space.
Both stairways are framed and verified as to geometry and location. Tread and riser
dimensions were verified to be the correct 7" (riser) and 11" (tread)as required.
Channels that make up the stringers are 12" deep channels as shown on the plans.
Variations from submitted plans
Doorway into the Shipping and Receiving was relocated around the corner into the
adjacent wall.

report:
Date of inspection
The Engineer visited the site to record the progression of the building's construction
including the interior metal stud framing and stair construction.
Progress/Inspection
The metal building system is fully erected and insulated. The Engineer was informed that
rod bracing in the upper roof was shipped to the wrong length. Corrective action will be
taken, of which to be determined, to resolve the problem and insure the placement of the
bracing. Some of the horizontal sliding windows are installed on the north and east walls
of the building with the remaining windows to be placed. Both hollow metal pass doors
are installed in the east and west sides of the building.
