31B-147 (2) Paul Bersante, MD P.O. Box 60211 Florence, MA 01062 April 23, 2007 My wife and I have been considering relocating to Northampton for two years and have looked at a substantial number of properties. We have settled on 131 State Street for several reasons. My wife and I do much of our work in the Springfield/Westfield area and she commutes four days a week from Greenfield. This is too long for her in terms of both time and miles. Additionally, we are discovering that Hampshire County's culture, amenities and general ambiance works better for us than Franklin County's more rural character. For example, my wife rides horses on Saturday mornings at the Smith Riding Stable and while she is doing that, I do a good deal of research work at both the Forbes and Smith libraries. We enjoy spending much of the rest of our limited weekend free time experiencing the urban atmosphere that is Main Street. We are interested in relocating to 131 State Street and have submitted an offer that has been accepted. If we move forward, we will be selling our house in Greenfield and thus State Street would be our residence. I work full time in eastern Massachusetts at a Community Health Center and stay four nights a week there. In addition to this full time job, I have developed a sideline in medical-legal consulting firm. My first major project has taken over 1,000 hours over the last twelve months. Most of the project involves research and writing. I have three other projects going at this time. Ninety-nine percent of the time I am alone with a computer, book, notebook, or dictating machine. I use the internet, libraries, and the telephone to do most of my research. My clients are lawyers, families, and businesses. So far, I have never seen a client, face-to-face, as part of my work. If I met with a client in my home office at 131 State Street, it would be to discuss their pending legal case and not to do a physical exam with an exam table and stethoscope. Indeed, there will be no furniture or equipment one would associate with a medical doctor's office. 131 State Street is a perfect location for our need to shorten our commute, live close to the culture and amenities in the downtown area, and do my limited home office work — two to three days a week in a limited number of hours on those days. I hope we have clarified our vision of what we would be doing at 131 State Street. As you see, it is nothing that anyone would complain about, would even notice. Nor does it run counter to your well thought out zoning ordnances. 74751 Paul Bersante MD 10. Do any signs exist on the property?
