Building Permit Application
Proposed Additions and Interior Renovations Number of Occupants
Dear Mr.Hasbrouck,
On behalf of Wright Architectural Millwork.,Associated Builders, Inc. is pleased to submit the following
information regarding the numbers of occupants for the above referenced project.
Wright Architectural Millwork currently employs 33 people with-in the existing facility. This number
includes the both the office personnel and the shop employees. With the proposed expansion, they
anticipate increasing the staff with 5— 10 new employees, for a total of 38—43
employee/occupants/population.
According to Section CMR 780.1008.1.1 of the State Building Code the actual number of occupants can
be use to determine the required facilities for a project. For this project we use a designed occupancy load
of eighty(80) occupants which is 46%higher than the proposed employment/occupancy/population load.
The design occupancy load of eighty(80) occupants is the results of the number of plumbing facilities
proposed for the project. According to Section 248 CMR 2.10.19.a.2 of the State Plumbing code, the
number of plumbing fixtures required is based on the"population established by the authority having
jurisdiction". In this project the employment/occupancy/population load shall be established as eighty
(80) employees/occupants/population. Therefore; according to Section 248 CMR 2.10.19.j.3,"the number
of water closets and lavatories shall be provided within reasonable access and in accordance with
248CMR 2.10(19)Table 1 for industrial facilities",the project requires four(4)water closets and four(4)
lavatories. Two(2)urinals and one(1) shower stall have also been provided.
Attached please find three(3)copies of the floor plans and plumbing drawings reflecting the changes
showing the addition of one shower stall as requested. I hope this letter and the drawings fulfill the
requirements and information you requested, and as such will allow the issuance a building permit. Please
don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions and/or concerns affecting the issuance of a permit.
Sincerely,
Douglas P. M ttoon, AIA,NCARB

1 have reviewed along with yourself the potential snow drifting on the mentioned
structure. I have found that drifting should not be a problem, even though in some areas
there is the potential for some dri Bing, be it minimal.
I hope this resolves the concerns.

Snow Drift Loads-Impact on Existing Building
Dear Mr. Hasbrouck,
On behalf of Wright Architectural Millwork.,Associated Builders,Inc.is pleased to submit the following
information regarding the snow drift loads impact on the above referenced project.
Snow drifting was considered during the design of the additions. The intent was to minimize the load
impact yet allow for proper flashing and transitions from the existing roofs to the new roofs. The new
additions for this project due create minor snow drift loads onto the existing building. Therefore, as you
requested we did additional analysis of this snow drifting and offer the following information.
In order to reanalysis this impact,Associated Builders retained Ted Greenlaw P.E. a structural engineer
who specializes in analyzing existing structures. After his review of the project he wrote to us confirming
the minimal impact on the existing structures. Attached please find a copy of the letter he wrote to us in
response to the potential snow drifting.
We appreciate your concern regarding the snow drift loads and hope this adequately addresses the matter.
Sincerely,
Douglas P. Mat oon, AIA,NCARB
