Dear Mr. Kuntz:
Based on the soil test boring data that has been collected on
your behalf and on research of data published by the U. S.
Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, it is the
professional geotechnical opinion of Corporate Environmental
Advisors, Inc- that 3 foot 6 inches is an effective maximum
depth of footings to prevent frost action in sub-strata of the
Amostown-Windsor (Au) Complex.
The Soil Conservation Service has rated the Amostown Complex
with only moderate susceptibility to frost action, therefore it
is not appropriate to construct deeper foundation footings than
stated above for a heated slab building of this nature_
This depth also concurs with published data provided by the
U. S. Array Corps. of Engi neeria+.g (TM 5-809-1/AFM 88-3, Chap- 1 ).
