Plumber doing gas piping for RTU' s and electrician is doing rough-in piping for plant Liner panels going in OBSERVATIONS Electrician has installed building as required on permit drawings and has poured Transformer Pad. Building columns are now grouted. Work is proceeding slowly, but good workmanship is apparent. Weather still is a problem. Temporary heat is being used in the plant building. Sheetmetal contractor delivering ductwork to site . Plumber finishing rough-in' s . Facade sheeting is well underway. OBSERVATIONS Concrete duct bank poured, required 27 cy of concrete. Entire plant roof is installed. Roof insulation will be installed from below. Office erection is proceeding very slowly. Why?? Most windows in plant are installed - workmanship is poor, and they are not insulated as drawings and specs require . Notified contractor of same, correction will be taken care of. Electrician is wiring exterior walls of plant Gas main is in place to building from Bay State Gas Company. Office is being insulated (walls) and sheated (roof) . Wet pipe sprinkler system is being installed. Project Mgr. LJK poured light standard bases today. OBSERVATIONS Instructed contractor to get columns grouted ASAP . All building siding is installed - looks excellent. Roof insulation is not being installed correctly and will have to be re-done Several minor fabrication errors on structural steel for MBS . Some field fab will be necessary, but this will not effect building appearance or structural integrity. Drywall contractor asked to leave the job so ironworkers can finish roof insulation unhampered by their stud walls, etc. Erection of building is conforming to MBS ' s details and requirements . However, workmanship needs improving. Concrete sidewalk being poured. Plumber finishing rough-in for office. OBSERVATIONS Plant SOG - 6" thick with 6 x 6 x 6 x 6 mesh and poly, poured and finish, looks excellent. Site now has temporary power from Miss . Elect. Office foundations 100% complete . Both office and plant concrete walls have 2" perimeter insulation at grade even though not shown on drawings No anchor bolt problems with office pour . Office footings and foundations have proper mix and PSI and reinforcing steel as required by permit drawings . Need for 2 x 4 Keyway was waived. Weather conditions are starting to impact job schedule . Plant building is being erected - no major problems Office building layout checked and verified. Jobsite trailer arrived on site. OBSERVATIONS Building arrived on 10/21/87 . Catch basins are installed correctly. Owner ordered two additional windows for plant building. Bad soil at loading dock entrance . Instructed Dietz to dig out wet and unstable soil, and replace with processed rock fill . This will be an extra to the owner. Also suggested that this rock fill be paved with asphalt so that proper site drainage would be possible into adjacent trench drain. This will insure stable soil conditions. (James Dostal) . OBSERVATIONS Forming needs to be a little neater. Contractor is using (well used) plywood forms. However, very little of concrete is exposed and PSI and mix, and placement of reinforcing steel is per drawings and specs. Questioned contractor on use of form oil and placing of same, during forming process. 4 anchor bolts not correct--had to be reset. Site is clean, and work is progressing in an orderly manner. ITEMS TO VERIFY Need to submit and receive final Building Permit from Northampton prior to arrival and erection of pre-engineered steel building.
