parcel who abut anyone listed in a) above.
Please write each name/address completely, legibly and keep
it within its box as this list will be copied for mailing
labels. Said list must be certified by the Northampton
Assessor's Office as to the accuracy of the names and
addresses submitted before the Application may be filed.
Please note that it may take up to 7 (seven) days for the
Assessors to certify such list SO PLAN AHEAD ACCORDINGLY.
10. Applicant must read the GUIDE TO APPLYING FOR A ZONING
VARIANCE, SPECIAL PERMIT OR FINDING and endorse and date the
Application. If the applicant is a corporation, partnership,
trust or other business entity, a duly authorized officer
should sign. An attorney or other duly authorized
representative of the applicant may sign on behalf of the
applicant.
PROCEDURES
The Applicant must take the original and it (eleven) complete
copies of the application packet to the City Clerk's Office, who
will forthwith, stamp the original and 11 copies as to the date of
receipt, and will return the 11 copies to the Applicant who shall
forthwith file the 11 copies, along with the Filing Fee, with the
Northampton Office of Planning & Development. A complete
application packet shall consist of:
1. the signed and dated Finding Application Form,
2 . the signed and dated Zoning Permit Application,
3 . the List of Abutters Certified by the Northampton
Assessor's Office,
4. any Site or Sketch Plans that are required, and
5. any additional information that is required or which the
Applicant wishes to submit in support of the Application.
The Filing Fee for Variance Applications, as required under the
Northampton Zoning Ordinance, shall be $75. 00 plus $3.00 for each
party listed on the Application's Official Abutter List. If more
than one or a combination of Variance, Special Permit or Finding
Applications are required for any single project than the Filing
Fee shall be $75.00 plus $3 . 00 for each party listed on the
Application's Official Abutter List for the initial Special Permit,
Variance of Finding Application, plus an additional $10.00 for each
additional Special Permit, Variance of Finding Application
required.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OUT THE FINDING APPLICATION FORM
A SEPARATE APPLICATION FORM MUST BE USED FOR EACH SPECIFIC FINDING
THAT IS REQUIRED AND BEING APPLIED FOR.
IT IS THE APPLICANT'S (OR HIS/HER/THEIR REPRESENTATIVE'S)
RESPONSIBILITY TO SATISFY ALL LEGAL REQUIREMENTS IN THE
APPLICABLE STATUTES AND ORDINANCES THROUGH THE WRITTEN
APPLICATION AND PRESENTATION AT THE PUBLIC HEARING. FAILURE
TO MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS MAY PREVENT THE APPLICANT FROM
REAPPLYING FOR TWO YEARS.
This Application should be completed using a typewriter or be
legibly hand printed. All numbered items on the application must
be completed. Put N/A if you feel that the item is not applicable.

7. List how your proposed work/project complies with criteria for
receiving a Variance, which is contained in the Applicant's
Guide. Use additional sheets if necessary.
8. Check if Sketch or Site Plan is submitted, or if none is
required. A site/sketch plan should be drawn as near to scale
as possible showing, among other things, lot boundaries,
dimensions of existing and/or proposed structures and the
distances of said structures from the lot boundaries, parking,
fencing, etc. It is strongly suggested that a sketch plan be
submitted for most applications as a visual presentation often
greatly enhances the effectiveness of the narrative
presentation. A formal Site Plan is required to be submitted
if the work/project falls under the requirements of Section
10. 11.
