JAMES C.O'DONNELL
CITY SOLICITOR DECISION OF THE ZONING
THOMAS P. NAGLE,JR. BOARD OF APPEALS
ASSISTANT CITY SOLICITOR
On November 10, 1976 the Zoning Board of Appeals for
the City of Northampton decided to grant the petition of
Dr. and Mrs. Charles Stark for a variance to convert a
portion of a home for use as an optometrist ' s office at
374 Bridge Street.
Based upon evidence presented to the Board, -the Board --
made the following findings:
1. There exists a special hardship owing to circum-
stances relating to the soil conditions, shape or topography
of such land or structures, but not affecting generally the
zoning district.
2 . The desirable relief may be granted without sub-
stantial detriment to the public good.
3 . The desirable relief may be granted without nullifying
or substantially derogating from the intent of zoning.
The variance is granted subject to the following restrictions:
—The variance is to be for Dr. Stark only, and is
to be in effect only until the termination of his
practice.
—A driveway is to be constructed to allow turn-
around space for two cars.
—Signs must be in conformance with the zoning ordinance.
