a. Roger spoke to Cotton who said the method used to prune roots was probably
okay, although not ideal.
b. Bruce to speak to their arborist re: crowning and pruning.
C. Cotton to look at the tree in question and parking lot trees.
16. Computer Wiring: nothing further...
17. Blower Door Test: Roger said they will do blower door test on existing building for
$150, and then provide a proposal for buttoning up the building. This was approved.
18. Security & Fire alarms: nothing further.
19. Relocated window: Bruce to provide a proposal.
20. Porches: Laura reported that she spoke to assistant Building inspector who did not think
the egress porches needed to be accessible. Laura recommends holding them down to
improve weather tightness; Susan & Herb agreed.

price.

d. Height of upper grade fixture: Susan said the grades at new wing are first thru
sixth. Laura therefore not sure which height to use then. If the upper grade
governs, then existing toilets (17") can be re-used ($270/new one otherwise). She
will call access bd. Later Note: The access bd. (Nancy) had never had this
question before and did not give a clear answer. The sub slab plumbing has
already been set at 15"from wall. This is okay for both age groups, therefore we
will assume that either height toilet will be acceptable.
e. Sinks: Bruce submitted a price of$1,182 and cut sheets for new fixtures. Laura
to get opinion of access bd. whether or not old ones can be re-used.
f. Insta-heat: $696. Bruce suggested that they wait and see how long it takes to get
hot water to classroom, as these could be added later. He will price electric
power.
g. Silt Trap: $554. There are floor clean outs, so perhaps this isn't really necessary.
Clay projects are infrequent. Susan to think about it.
6. Classroom cabinetry: Bruce to price.
7. Toilet accessories: Susan to check with paper supplier re: toilet paper and towel
dispensers.
8. Heating: Bruce has heat calculations; he will distribute.
9. Boiler room: Charlie McCracken suggested locating boiler in crawl space (60" +/-
headroom). Roger to speak with him after the meeting.
10. Ventilation: Bruce to distribute calculations.
11. Lighting:
a. Rebate: nothing further.
b. Existing building: School should contact Avi Gladstone re: replacement bulbs.
C. Drawings: Roger had a full size Revised Reflected Ceiling Plan, but there was
some discussion of updating this with other new items.
d. Occupancy Sensors: No, for Classrooms; Yes, for ceiling mounted sensors in
toilet rooms.
e. Exterior Fixtures: Yes, for $300 +/- credit to go to incandescents. These should
be switched at front door, but on separate switch from front light. There was
some discussion of fixing front porch timer button.
f. Jonathan recommended that Susan walk through building with electrician after it
is rough framed to confirm switch locations, etc.
12. Classroom Ceilings: Bruce to forward prices for the Nubby and Glued-on tile. Bruce
pointed out that a "cleanable" surface would be superior to spray finish.
13. Paving: Laura asked that parking lot be flagged on site so that we can determine whether
the nice trees in question can be saved with some tweaking. Then WB will firm up price.
Roger pointed out that if parking jeopardizes these trees roots then they might become a
hazard (blow down).
14. Change Order Proposals:
a. credit for star burst pending.
b. credit for 8" stone pending.
15. Trees:

Jobsite Meeting: 12 June 1997
Present: Susan Swift; Herb Mayer; Bob Raymond; Jonathan Wright; Skip Valencik;
Bruce Cleare; Roger Cooney; Laura Fitch.
PROGRESS: Backfilling & compaction done; under slab plumbing in place; vapor barrier
installed; mesh laid out; South face on site laying radiant piping; slab scheduled
for Monday; framing Tuesday.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Gas: Bruce in touch with gas co. Line to Bunsen Burner needs to stay within warm
space.
2. Submittals:
a. Plumbing, Mech: Roger to review with Bruce (Monday?).
B. Trusses: Bruce reported that Mass. stamp set was sent to MJA. Roger confirmed
location of interior partition aligns with exterior wall. North gable end truss needs
to change.
C. Electrical: re-submittal pending, reportedly there are no long lead times.
d. Schedule of draws submitted.
3. Colors:
a. Laura brought larger carpet & the samples for Susan to review with Staff. Later:
Laura had Peach Melba sample sent to her.
b. Laura reported that flooring supplier said he had carried"inspiration" colors; Laura
asked Bruce to confirm this.
4. Concrete:
a. Reinforcing at interior bearing wall thickened slab: to be added.
b. Slab pour: Scheduled for Monday (rain expected tomorrow). Laura or Roger will
take a look prior to pour.
5. Plumbing:
a. Codes: Laura explained that we are working with two new codes (Building &
Access Bd.)
b. Lay-out of toilet rooms: Roger explained why the decision was made this
weekend to go ahead with fixture lay-out in double occupancy toilet rooms, but
to eliminate partitions. Susan & Bob did not think the older children would be
comfortable with curtains and are willing to go with single occupancy rooms.
Laura will review plan to see if we can use extra space.
C. Height of pre-school fixture: Bruce submitted a price of $1,116 for 10" toilet
(requires flushometer). Laura does not believe there is a height requirement on
this fixture, so standard 14 1/2" ($270) one to be installed instead.
