Progress: Second protection fencing installed; Footings & half of the frost walls poured; stripping of forms in progress; remainder of walls to be poured today. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Permit: Full permit expected on June 2nd. 2. Gas line upgrade: Bruce to talk to Gas do. 3. Submittals: a. Laura and Roger reviewed and are all set on underslab items. b. conc. mix to be submitted. C. stamped truss drawings to be submitted. 4. Plumbing: a. It is not clear what is to be re-used and where. The plumber wants to meet with the inspector to determine if lays can be re-used. b. Toilet (and other fixture) heights need to be clarified; shorter toilets require flushometers. C. Existing toilets need new seats: 4 total. d. Sinks at classrooms need to be accessible; Laura will provide a sketch. Susan said storage could go over counters if it needs to be eliminated below. 5. Heating: a. Roger requested that Charlie's heat load calculations be submitted. b. Roger would like to confirm that Boiler Room is adequate for everyone's "stuff". 6. Hot Water: a. New water tank: Charlie @ Southface estimated that a new tank (off new boiler) would run $1,000. He said the existing gas heater is less efficient than new sealed combustion one. b. Susan would like hotter water in some of the school, but it needs to be tempered in pre-school (dual temp. system?). C. New Classrooms: Jonathan suggested "insta-hot" elec. heaters for the two sinks in the far classroom. A recirculating loop is too costly to run, and the wait for hot water is too long if coming from the tank. WB to price. 7. Fuel: Can we mix propane (for bunsen burners) with gas. Ray said that last he knew this was not to code, but the inspector might make an exception. He will investigate. 8. Ventilation: a. Roger would like calculations for ventilation. b. Ducts to the two existing pre-school classrooms were located in the field. C. Roger expressed concern that the trees were not properly root pruned as the roots were cut with the excavator blade. Skip said the operator followed same protocol as per Smith College, and will hand prune any roots in trench. b. Skip pointed out that the tree closest to the addition has a hollow trunk, and is not leafing out as quickly as the other trees. He suggests that it come down now. This will be considered. 13. Computer Wiring: There was a meeting with Craig Cardnel (Nynex parent) who will run category five cable. He suggests running Two 1" conduits under the Hall slab and up in new Storage Room. Jonathan pointed out that it would not cost anything to run in the framing instead. WB will provide proposal for conduit with credit for phone. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Susan requested Schedule: Skip summarized: footings today; form walls Tuesday; backfilling towards end of week; under slab mechanicals (1st week of June); slab scheduled for June 9th (weather permitting); framing to start the last week of School. 2. Blower Door Test (as per ECH certification): There was much discussion regarding the need for this expense ($460), particularly considering that the existing building is so leaky. Herb is willing to go along with this if the existing building is evaluated by energy folks at the time of new building test. Bruce will speak with them. 3. Security & Fire alarms: Herb suggested that it might be cost effective to have them hardwired this time. What did electrician carry in base bid? Bruce will check and also call "IRS" for proposal. Roger submitted a detail for new concrete against the existing band joist, and it was revised to include flashing, against PT plywood. 7. Trusses: These have been ordered through Rugg Lumber. (See After Meeting Actions.) 8. Lighting: a. Waiting on price for Roger's revised lighting count (with original fixture types). b. WB is carrying $7,474 allowance, but have a credit proposal for approx. $2,000 for increased lighting with cheaper fixtures. Waiting on clarification from Chuck (of WB) and cuts of these fixtures. C.
