36-172 (4) DECISION OF THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS V� The Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Northampton met on June 7, 1982 and voted unanimously to grant the petition of Philip and Cheryl Jenks for a variance from the setback requirements to construct a garage and addi- tional living space to their home at 723 Florence Road. Based upon the evidence presented to the Board, the Board made the follow- ing findings in regard to the variance: 1. The property is unique because the elevation is higher than that of neighboring parcels. 2. A literal enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance would create a financial hardship for the petitioners because if they were forced to buy a larger home, they would have to replace their mortgage at double the interest rate they now pay. 3. The proposed addition will not change the property's present use as a single family home, and therefore, the proposal will not be detrimental to the public good nor will it violate the intent of the Zoning Ordinance.
