The sprinkler system is a dry system which allows full protection while spaces are not occupied with tenants. 903. 1.1 (1.b) SEQUENCE OF OPERATION SECTION 1 STAN-DPIPE SYSTEM System operates automatically upon the opening of a Ere deparment valve. Operational Sequence: I The flow from afire hose valve will close the contacts of a vane type or pressure type flow switch. 2. Closed contact on the flow switch will activate are alarm system(upon 30 second delay)and initiate the audiovisual devices. (see below) DRY SPR2-5=R SYSTEMS The fire sprink:er system operates automatically upon the fusing of a single:ire�-pri-ikler Operational Sequence. 1. The activation of a single sprinkler will allow the air to ex7aust the system and discharge water. 2 The dry valve will activate the system pressure switch. 3 Closed contact will activate local alarm indication ircluding strobes, hcris and bells. 4 Closed cortac*will send sigral through local alarm panel to central station,central station%-i 11 then notify fire departmer.t. FIRE ALARM SYSTEM Water Flow,Manual Pull Station,or Egress Corridor Smoke Detectors 1. Activation of the fire alarm system into alarm mode can be achieved by sprinkler water flow,manual pull statior, or smoke detector. 2. Upon alarm activation,the following will occur: Business occupancy indicating appliance circuit will be activatec Residential occupancy indicating appliance circuit will be activated Fire Department will be notified by the control pwiel certrunicator. Multi-Station Smoke Detection 1 Smoke detection in the Residential units will activate the vocal smoke alarms but will not activate the building fire alarm system. 2. in the event of fire,if the fire spniiklers within the residential unit are activated,the fall'o, :ire alarm system will be estivate. The entire facility is locafwd on a single dry pipe system. The sprinkler system must be modified as required to maintain compliance with vFPA 13, 1996 edition when renovated for a tcnart. The following must be evaluated for each new tenant: SpririLers trust be added,relocated,or remc-.ed as necessary to rr.amLain sonrkl?r coverage. The pipe size must be venried to iruttre proper water delivery rates. This car.be achieved by hydraulic calculations if the modification is significant.
